Transgender Customer Threatens Employee Over ‘Misgendering,’ Wait Until You See the Video

If you’ve never set foot in the video game store GameStop, it’s kind of like the chain store equivalent of a dive bar in a bad part of town. The employees try their best to deal with customers who tend to occasionally blow disputes ridiculously out of hands. This leads to more vicious arguments per capita than any mall establishment (or for that matter, dive bar) that I can think of.

However, even with that low bar of experience, I was kind of stunned by a viral video of a GameStop confrontation that showed up recently on social media. It was first posted on Facebook by one Tom Smith. When I opened it, I figured it was just your usual video of someone trying to take back a game they’d already opened and getting inordinately huffy when they realized what the return policy was.
But then I realized this was 2018 and I was dealing with a video involving someone “misgendering” a customer. It was at that moment I understood the kind of insanity I was signing up for.
According to the Daily Wire, the incident happened in an Albuquerque, New Mexico store. It actually began as the kind of battle over a return I’ve witnessed dozens of times in GameStop. A man — or at least a biological man — wanted a refund and was instead offered store credit.
“I don’t want credit, you’re going to give me my f—ing money back,” the customer can be seen screaming at the GameStop employee.
“Excuse me, sir, there’s a young man in here,” a woman off camera says. “You need to watch your mouth.”
And that’s when things went downhill: “Excuse me! It is ma’am! It is ma’am!” the customer yelled.
The woman then made the very cisgendered mistake of not apologizing for the remark. Instead, she told the customer to settle down and said she would call the police if they didn’t calm down.
That didn’t mollify the trans customer. “You need to settle down! You need to settle down and mind your business!” he yells, directly pointing at the woman. Then he turns to the male GameStop clerk: “Ma’am! Once again, ma’am!”

Do you think the GameStop employee was in the right here?

“I said both of you –” the clerk responds.
“No, you said sir!” he says. The customer turns around, momentarily thinking the better of the rant. But of course that didn’t last long: “M———er! Take it outside! You wanna call me sir again? I will show you a f—ing sir!”
The clerk apologized, but that didn’t stop our friend from kicking over a display and then turns back to the clerk, demanding GameStop’s corporate number. “I need your corporate number now! Get it for me, now!”
When told to settle down, the customer responded, “I’m gonna ask you for the fifth time to stop calling me a man, because, quite clearly, I am not!”
So anyway, the clerk calls the customer ma’am, the customer claims they weren’t cussing, they talk about “disrespecting trans people” and planning “on telling the entire LGBTQ community,” he tells the employee.
“You’re going to lose money over this,” the customer threatens.
There are several problems with this. First, corporate usually isn’t interested in the complaints of irate individuals who kick over displays and go on expletive-filled rants inside stores where there are obviously going to be children. Second, let’s be fair here — I would not, on outward appearance, call this individual “ma’am.” I would probably settle on “sir.”
If I were the clerk and the customer corrected me, I certainly would have gone with “ma’am,” mind you — my job would be to sell games and be polite, after all, not make sociopolitical points — but I must also express extreme surprise that this individual looks in the mirror each morning and thinks to themselves, “If someone misgenders me today, I’m getting violently angry.” In other words, there’s enough ambiguity here that vitriol over “sir” vs. “ma’am” seems a bit, well, uncalled for.
As of early Saturday, there was no word as to whether the customer got their store credit. I’m going to doubt it, though.

Jerome Corsi—the right-wing conspiracy theorist and Roger Stone associate—filed a lawsuit Sunday accusing special counsel Robert Mueller of blackmailing him to lie about President Trump in the investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. The suit seeks $350 million in damages and was filed six days after Corsi entered a formal complaint with the Justice Department alleging misconduct by Mueller. Corsi, 72, accuses Mueller's office of illegally leaking information from the grand jury investigating Russian election interference. The suit also accuses the special counsel's office of threatening Corsi with prison unless he agreed to falsely testify that he served as a liaison between Julian Assange and Stone. Corsi is known to have sent an email alerting Stone that WikiLeaks planned to release damaging information about emails stolen from John Podesta, chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, two months before WikiLeaks actually did so. He claims he never had any direct knowledge of WikiLeaks’ plans, saying he managed to predict the email dump using his investigative skills.

Hilton Hotel Fires Two Employees Who Called Police On Black Guest

A Hilton hotel in Portland, Oregon fired two employees after a black guest captured them on video calling the police to report him for trespassing after he had been using his phone in the lobby, the hotel said on Saturday. The guest, Jermaine Massey, had been speaking to his mother in the lobby when the police were called on him. Massey videotaped his interactions with the employees, a security guard and manager, and posted the video to Instagram where it was widely viewed. Police responded to the call and escorted Massey out of the hotel even though he was staying there. Hilton said in a statement it has no tolerance for racism and was working with the independently owned hotel to reinforce diversity training. “Our hotel is a place of hospitality, and their actions were inconsistent with our standards and values,” Hilton said in the statement. In the video the security guard tells Massey that police are arriving to escort him away, to which Massey protests that he is a guest at the hotel. “Not anymore,” the guard responds. His attorneys said Massey was doing nothing more than “calling his mother while black

Two Chinese men, along with a Mexican man, are in custody after Border Patrol agents tracked an ultralight aircraft as it made its way over the U.S.-Mexico border in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
According to a statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the agents were informed by CBP of the aircraft shortly before 2 a.m. as it made its way into U.S. airspace.
The aircraft was flying without any lights.
Agents were able to track the aircraft to its landing site, but the aircraft had already taken flight by the time they got there.
However, when they arrived, the agents encountered two Chinese nationals.

The CBP reported that the agents believed that these two individuals were dropped off by the aircraft and were in the country illegally.
Additionally, agents apprehended a Mexican man in a vehicle who is believed to have been waiting nearby to take the two illegals to their destination.
The three of them were all then taken to the Border Patrol’s Calexico Station for further questioning.
The incident isn’t the first time this week that border patrol agents have encountered an ultralight aircraft.

Do you think these ultralight aircraft pose a national security threat?

In the same statement, the CBP reported that on Sunday, “Border Patrol agents tracked an ultralight aircraft that resulted in the arrest of two and the seizure of more than 125 pounds of methamphetamine.”
It’s unclear whether the same aircraft was used for both incidents.
The Washington Times reported that when agents arrived at the scene on Sunday, they found the drugs in 60 bundles bound together with duct tape. The total value of drugs seized is estimated to be around $1.4 million.
At a time when the issue of illegal immigration is commanding national headlines, the aircraft angle adds a new twist to an already contentious story.
Former Border Patrol agent Chris Harris told The Washington Times that using ultralight aircraft to not only send drugs but now people over the border is an extremely dangerous way of smuggling people to the United States.

“It’s disturbing,” he said. “If you want to get some operatives in this country very quickly, that’s a way.”
Chief patrol agent in the El Centro sector of the Border Patrol, Gloria Chavez, echoed Harris’ sentiments telling the newspaper that the ultralight vehicles are a “national security” threat.
“These aircraft are able to carry small payloads of dangerous cargo or dangerous people,” she said.

Plot Against Toledo Synagogues Is the 105th Islamist Terror Plot or Attack

In early December, an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in Ohio arrested 21-year-old Damon Joseph for planning an attack on a synagogue in Toledo, Ohio. Joseph was inspired by ISIS, making this the 105th Islamist terror plot or attack since 9/11 against the U.S. homeland.
Law enforcement first located Joseph on social media where he made posts of weapons and in support of ISIS.
Undercover agents contacted Joseph and he sent them ISIS propaganda and recruitment literature. He expressed support for violent “martyrdom operations” in the U.S. and following the attack on the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue in October.
Joseph expressed interest in carrying out a similar attack.
He then spent the next month deliberating over whether or not to conduct such an attack but ultimately decided that it was time for him to move from “virtual jihad” to “physical jihad.”
By the end of November, Joseph was plotting the specifics of his act of terror, still interested in attacking a synagogue with firearms.
Joseph asked one of the undercover agents if they would be interested in participating in an attack and when the agent responded that he had money available for such an operation, Joseph forwarded a plan of attack and the need for firearms and ammo.
Joseph said there were two synagogues that could be targets but he preferred the larger one because he wanted to “go big or go home.” Joseph then met in person with undercover agents to talk about specific weapons and tactics.
In the following days, the undercover agents sent photos of the weapons they had acquired for the attack. They then met with Joseph to exchange the weapons, which had been rendered inoperable.
Once he took the weapons, Joseph was arrested.
This plot was the 92nd homegrown plot — the terrorist radicalization and plotting occurred here in the U.S.
While many policymakers express concerns over the entry of terrorists in the U.S., this remains a rare area of attack. The U.S. has significantly improved its vetting following 9/11 so that most threats from abroad are now stopped abroad. This does not mean the U.S. can rest on its laurels as policymakers should always be scrutinizing the U.S.’ vetting programs to make sure they are working as well as they can.
But it does mean that the U.S. should be focusing more on how to stop terrorists who radicalize here in the U.S.
Domestic intelligence, undercover agents, other internal law enforcement activities should be improved to counter this internal threat.

The plot also shows the sad reality that anti-Semitic beliefs find fertile ground in many extreme ideologies, including the far right, the far left, and among Islamists. Such beliefs are abhorrent and cut against the founding ideals of the U.S. In his letter to the Hebrew congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, George Washington wrote in 1790 that in the U.S.:
All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support…
May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and figtree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.
