TIME TO PURGE THIS LAND OF THE TERRIBLE VESTIGES OF RACISM

WHY BOTHER WITH A COUPLE OF STATUES?

HERE'S A REAL LIST HERE

Every time I walk by these places I am reminded of racism and slavery and the cruelty of the Jim crow era. We must tear all of these structures down. They are dedicated to racist admitted Klansman Robert C. Byrd.

Hillary Clinton Praises ‘Friend and Mentor’ Robert Byrd (a KKK Recruiter)

Flashback: Hillary Clinton Praises ‘Friend and Mentor’ Robert Byrd (a KKK Recruiter)

In 2010, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fondly eulogized Sen. Robert Byrd, a former member and recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan. Clinton called Byrd “my friend and mentor” in a video message to commemorate his passing.

As a young man in West Virginia, Byrd was involved in the KKK and reportedly recruited 150 members to the group. While serving in Congress, Byrd set the record for longest filibuster on the floor of the U.S. Senate with a 14-hour filibuster of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
In a 2005 article titled “A Senator’s Shame,” the Washington Post’s Eric Pianin pilloried Byrd’s attempts to downplay his involvement in the organization as he grew older.
Despite his many achievements, however, the venerated Byrd has never been able to fully erase the stain of his association with one of the most reviled hate groups in the nation’s history.
“It has emerged throughout my life to haunt and embarrass me and has taught me in a very graphic way what one major mistake can do to one’s life, career, and reputation,” Byrd wrote in a new memoir — “Robert C. Byrd: Child of the Appalachian Coalfields” — that will be published tomorrow by West Virginia University Press.
The 770-page book is the latest in a long series of attempts by the 87-year-old Democratic patriarch to try to explain an event early in his life that threatens to define him nearly as much as his achievements in the Senate. In it, Byrd says he viewed the Klan as a useful platform from which to launch his political career. He described it essentially as a fraternal group of elites — doctors, lawyers, clergy, judges and other “upstanding people” who at no time engaged in or preached violence against blacks, Jews or Catholics, who historically were targets of the Klan.
His latest account is consistent with others he has offered over the years that tend to minimize his direct involvement with the Klan and explain it as a youthful indiscretion. “My only explanation for the entire episode is that I was sorely afflicted with tunnel vision — a jejune and immature outlook — seeing only what I wanted to see because I thought the Klan could provide an outlet for my talents and ambitions,” Byrd wrote.
While Byrd provides the most detailed description of his early involvement with the Klan, conceding that he reflected “the fears and prejudices I had heard throughout my boyhood,” the account is not complete. He does not acknowledge the full length of time he spent as a Klan organizer and advocate. Nor does he make any mention of a particularly incendiary letter he wrote in 1945 complaining about efforts to integrate the military.
That letter stated, “I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side… Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”
Long after Byrd claimed to disavow the KKK, he caused controversy and had to apologizefor using the phrase “white niggers” in an interview. “There are white niggers,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot of white niggers in my time, if you want to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I’d just as soon quit talking about it so much.”
Clinton’s embrace of Byrd during her time as a U.S. Senator — both literally and figuratively — has been a prominent meme among Donald Trump’s supporters at the Reddit community r/The_Donald. Members have creatively found ways to present a picture that shows Byrd’s Senate portrait photoshopped on an image of a man in Klan regalia — placed side by side with a 2004 AP photo of Byrd drawing in Clinton for a kiss.

Just hours before she was to speak at the Democratic National Convention in Boston, Clinton introduced Byrd as her mentor and told the audience that he has been a champion of the U.S. Constitution.

When even the Legal Aid Society opposes a bill that ties cops’ hands, you can be pretty sure it’s fatally flawed.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR!
Westchester's Immigrant Protection Act will make
it a criminal destination.

I support County Executive Rob Astorino's vow to veto the IPA (Sanctuary County bill). I applaud County Exec. Astorino and Hispanic Law Enforcement Association President Hector Lopez for having the courage to buck the County Legislators in their misguided attempt to addressing the immigration problem.

They will create a free amnesty zone for illegal immigrant felons who will not be able to be detained,  searched or questioned by the Feds.

Immigrant does not equal criminal. There are many immigrants that went through the process to get their green cards and residency. They are not happy having to live with predatory violent criminals in their midst. They don't need people coming to do their low pay jobs for less either.

Look at Suffolk County with its serious MS13 crime wave. Having visited there recently I learned that they concluded the only way to protect their resident immigrant community was to clamp down and ask for more federal participation not less.

Because of the increased pressure in Suffolk County gangbangers will flock to the new Westchester Sanctuary county.

MS-13 gang is linked to a startling 38 percent of all the homicides in normally placid Suffolk County over the last 16 months, its besieged police chief told a startled Senate panel Wednesday.

Since Jan. 1, 2016, 17 of 45 murders in the county have been connected to the brutal gang, testified Police Commissioner Timothy Sini.

He said MS-13 engages in selling drugs, stealing and extortion, but unlike other gangs, the primary motivation isn’t to make money but to terrorize the community.

MS-13 often engages in violence for the sake of violence,” Sini told the Senate Homeland Security Committee, “to increase notoriety of the gang and to cause communities to fear the gang and its members. Their main purpose is just to exist, to be an entity and to have people be loyal to them and the loyalty extends to macheteing people to death."

In all, there have been 27 murders in Suffolk County since 2013 attributed to the gang.

The suffolk County commissioner has asked Congress to increase the number of federal prosecutors in the area so gang members could be charged under the federal RICO organized crime statute.

As they crack down in Suffolk County and we soften up in Westchester County, we will open the door for undocumented immigrants involved in criminal activity like the ruthless MS-13 gang. They will migrate to Westchester and prey on our immigrant community.

Westchester County's Immigrant Protection Act (IPA) will put public safety at risk — starting with the very immigrants it claims to protect.

That fear is justified. Recall the horror stories of illegal immigrants shielded by “sanctuary cities” who go on to commit heinous crimes. In the city, Mayor de Blasio’s policies recently led to the release from Rikers Island of an admitted gang member sought by the feds.

Westchester public-safety boss George Longworth worries the bill would make “families and police officers less safe."

Astorino warns, the bill “puts Westchester at odds” with Washington, “creates rights not available to ordinary citizens” and endangers $13 million in federal funds by undermining cooperation with the feds.

County lawmakers think they’ll score political points by championing illegal immigrants. In reality, they are on the verge of creating a haven for one of the most heinous gangs ion the world.
