VIDEO: Tribute to WWII veteran in Gardena goes viral

GARDENA, Calif. (KABC) --

A touching tribute to a World War II veteran in Gardena is going viral on social media.

Ernest Thompson, now in his late 90s, served aboard the USS Tennessee prior to WWII and on the USS Missouri during WWII, according to his grandson Jonathan Williams.

Williams recalled a trip he and his grandfather took to visit the USS Missouri back in 2000.

"When he lost my grandmother, the one thing he wanted to do was visit his ship (the USS Missouri) again. We visited his ship together in 2000 and I was able to experience what these museum ships meant to veterans," Williams wrote on Facebook.

Williams, the CEO of the Battleship Iowa Museum in Los Angeles, said his grandfather was moved to join the Iowa museum crew.

Thompson, along with other WWII veterans, would go to the ship on Sundays to meet the public and tell stories.

Recently though, Williams said his grandfather hasn't been able to make the trip because of health reasons.

That's when the Chief Selects of the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center decided to bring life on the seas to Thompson.

The group arranged a surprise visit to Thompson's Gardena home and sang "Anchors Aweigh" right in the neighborhood street.

Thompson was seen in the video standing at salute while the group sang. After their performance, the group lined up and one-by-one shook Thompson's hand and spoke with him.

Williams said his grandfather told him it was one of the best days of his life.

The video, posted to Williams' Facebook page on Aug. 13, has been shared nearly 100,000 times.

El atleta mantuvo la bandera en esa posición aún cuando personas que, al parecer, pertenecían al equipo protocolar del evento, trataron de componerle la bandera, a lo que Juarez respondió contundentemente con un gesto negándose a voltear la bandera.

New York City is famously liberal and proudly diverse, but its education system continues to be one of the most segregated in the entire country. NY1 anchor Errol Louis has written extensively about school segregation in his column for the Daily News and he joined the Slant podcast on Monday to discuss the issue.

“Segregation is a poison. It poisons everything that it touches,” he said. “This is not new.”

Louis also gives his thoughts on mayoral control of the city’s schools and his role as one of the privileged few journalists with regular access to Mayor Bill de Blasio, thanks to his weekly appearances on “Road to City Hall.” Listen to the interview below.

La Tragedia De La Salud En Venezuela!

Un insecto la pica y muere por falta de medicamentos

Elvis Leal, padre de la infortunada, relató la odisea que vivió y el sufrimiento de su hija de 34 años por la falta de insumos en los hospitales

Karen Leal Osorio (34) jugaba entretenida ludo con su familia cuando algo la picó en el pie derecho. Desde ese momento se complicó su estado de salud y agonizó por días hasta fallecer en el Hospital Central. “Papi, ayúdame, no aguanto más” fueron sus últimas palabras antes de morir.

Elvis Leal, padre de la infortunada, relató la odisea que vivió y el sufrimiento de su hija por la falta de insumos en los hospitales. El deterioro de la salud de su hija empezó el pasado sábado, en el patio de su casa, en el barrio El Sitio de la parroquia Venancio Pulgar.

No logró ver lo qué la picó. Al día siguiente, Karen notó que el pie estaba un poco inflamado y sentía dolor. No le dio importancia y tomó medicamentos que calmaron la molestia. Para el lunes estaba peor, no fue hasta el martes que asistió al Centro de Diagnóstico Integral Plateja, donde le colocaron un tratamiento para el dolor y la infección, luego la enviaron a su casa.

Su padre acotó que Karen tenía el miércoles el pie morado, el dolor se extendió a la espalda y abdomen. En ese momento la llevó al CDI La Rotaria, donde no tenían medicamentos y la remitieron al Hospital Chiquinquirá. Allí “no querían atenderla”.

El padre y hermano de la obrera se molestaron por la negligencia y armaron un escándalo en el hospital. Les dijeron que el quirófano estaba cerrado, no tenían para hacer placas y la enviaron al central donde murió esperando que llegaran sus familiares con los medicamentos que le solicitaron. Lo último que su padre escuchó fue “papi ayúdame, no aguanto más”.

Los Leal esperaban la entrega del cuerpo y el resultado de la necropsia para saber exactamente lo que le provocó la muerte.

This is what we get from a political system that’s out of control. People have been amped-up into thinking it’s the end of the world if the other party wins.

Condoning riots, inciting people to resist as if the country was in the throes of a revolution. Maligning, slandering, anti-fascists physically attacking “fascists”! Brainwashing people to believe that they have been robbed of things and rights they are entitled to.

Politicians, the Main Stream Media, the DeepState, and the Globalists have taken advantage of the population’s naivety and susceptibility to manipulation by funding different organizations radicalizing left-wing extremists to “fight” for their cause.

Just like we did with Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden, we again have created monsters. After they are no longer needed nobody deactivates them and they want to stay in the political game.

Politics is a blood sport. Ruthless and dangerous like war but in the end it is a sport. The people at the top incite the masses into action by telling them this is the most important election of their life, when they know it's really just another election. They motivate people by appealing to their deepest fears knowing they may have to make the opposite argument next year if necessary.

With very little knowledge about what politics and the world is about some people become convinced they are agents of change in an historical moment. When the game is over, they  will feel cheated and angry. They'll  blame the system. Some will seek other ways to fight and become radicalized. Others may just seek violence to hurt the people in this country that need to wake up or pay up. 

When it’s unknown everyday people getting hurt and dying it’s one thing but when it’s open season on politicians you can expect some change quick.

That’s why, in a way, this shooting of a congressperson may shake up all politicians. If they have enraged people to the point that they want to kill politicians because their candidate lost, it could very well be a Democrat the next time.
