Liberal Teacher Resigns After
Tweeting: “So Who’s Gonna
Take One For the Team and Kill
Kavanaugh?”
The Minnesota teacher under fire for tweeting a death threat concerning newly-minted Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh has resigned. The teacher had been placed on administrative leave as her school district investigates a tweet she sent urging people to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh, but observers had hoped for a more significant punishment.
The FBI in Minneapolis confirmed it is aware of tweet, which has since been deleted, along with her Twitter account. The teacher has been identified as Samantha Ness, a special education teacher.
“So whose [sic] gonna take one for the team and kill Kavanaugh?” the tweet read. The now-deleted tweet appears below:

The district said Tuesday that the instructor at the Alliance Education Center, whom it did not name, had voluntarily resigned from her position with the district. In a statement posted on the district’s website, Intermediate School District 917 superintendent Mark Zuzek wrote that the staff member did not make the post on Twitter while at school, adding that “there were no school devices, equipment or other school staff involved in the actions.”“At no time were students or staff in danger,” he wrote. “The employee was placed on paid administrative leave and an investigation conducted.”Intermediate School District 917, based in Rosemount, provides services to special education students in nine public school districts across the southeast metro area. It is separate from the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district.
Further tweets Ness sent apparently defend her death threat to the new Supreme Court justice.
A spokesperson from the FBI confirmed the tweet belongs to the unnamed teacher, and their Twitter account has also been deleted. Superintendent Mark Zuzek of Intermediate School District 917 released a statement Monday morning following the incident on the school district’s website.
“Over the weekend, the district has received a complaint regarding an employee. The employee has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” the statement read. “Pursuant with the data practices act, we are limited to providing additional information regarding this matter.”
